A Faith for All Seasons

TAKING WORSHIP HOME

I love it that my birthday almost always falls during the first week of Advent. I get to celebrate starting a new year as the church year is beginning. I love Advent’s call to peace and stillness, the call to meditation and to quiet preparation Continue reading

Be Bold, Loving, and Sensible!

By Miriam Rossow

TAKING WORSHIP HOME

Phobias or fears can be debilitating, as Vicar John David Mull explained.  They can stop people from doing their jobs properly or even from having a job. Fears can hinder relationships or stop them from starting. Sometimes fears are based in reality, but so often we take that reality to an extreme to find our fear.

As I pondered the concept of fear, I thought of Moses who admitted to having fear and not wanting the responsibilities that God was entrusting to him. I thought of the Israelites who, out of fear, decided not to conquerCanaanon the first go-around and then ended up wandering in the desert for 40 years. I thought of Jesus’ disciples the night he was betrayed.  Fear overtook them and did not allow them to stand behind Jesus publicly. Continue reading

A Kingdom of Priests

By Kris Bruun

TAKING WORSHIP HOME

“We are a kingdom of priests subject to none except Christ. On this we stake our lives, our futures, our whole eternity.” What would life look like, I wonder, if I were able to live with a daily vision of this ever-present reality? Showing Up – With or Without Feeling Like It!

TAKING WORSHIP HOME

When I moved to Texas, cut loose from community expectations, I found that my default was apparently set to bagels, cream cheese, the Sunday paper, and living without an alarm clock on the weekend. So I was especially touched Continue reading

Christ Is Risen! Alleluia!

TAKING WORSHIP HOME

By Miriam Rossow

I sit on my deck smelling the Easter lilies, enjoying the sunshine, and listening to the birds sing while I hum Alleluia from the hymns on Sunday. I can’t help but be reminded that all creation praises God’s name after the resurrection! In Psalm 148 we read together that the sun, moon, stars, lightning, snow, and clouds praise their creator. The water, animals, flying birds, mountains, hills, and trees praise their creator. The young and old men, the maidens and children praise their creator. All creation can not help Continue reading

God Has a Plan

By Miriam Rossow

TAKING WORSHIP HOME

God has a plan. God has a plan. When God makes a promise, His promise comes true. Even impossible things can seem possible. Miracles happen when God chooses you!

That is the refrain of a song that my children sang in their school musical. They sang it as they walked Continue reading
